Perseverance "Persy" Patsika, MBA ’25, an MIT Kuo Sharper Fellow, was drawn to the center’s sense of what she calls Ubuntu, a Southern African philosophy emphasizing interconnectedness, community, and shared humanity.

Patsika says “The center makes you dream like we used to dream when we were kids."

MIT Alum Named 2026 Rhodes Scholar

 
 
 

Vivian Clarissah Chinoda, SB ’25, is one of four from MIT named 2026 Rhodes Scholars. Chinoda, will pursue fully-funded postgraduate studies in social data science and public policy at the University of Oxford. Chinoda aims to foster economic development and equitable resource access for Zimbabwean communities by promoting social innovation and evidence-based policy.

Deepening Ties Between Africa and the Globe

 
 
 

A recent BusinessDay profile highlights Adefemi Fapohunda, SFMBA ’25, who returns to campus this fall as an MIT Sloan Visiting Fellow. She endeavors to deepen partnerships and strengthen ties between Africa and global partners.

“Africa doesn’t need more pilots that end as press releases,” says Fapohunda. “We need investable systems–clear rules, credible data, and platforms where public policy and private capital work together for citizens.”
