Alumni Achievements: Celebrating Our Honorees

The MIT Club of New York is thrilled to announce that two of our alumni club board members were honored at the recent Alumni Leadership Conference (ALC) event for their outstanding service and contributions to MIT.

David Fung '85, the MIT Club of New York's immediate past chair, received the prestigious Bronze Beaver Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Alumni Association. This award recognizes his distinguished service to the Institute and the Alumni Association. David Fung has demonstrated exemplary leadership and service across many volunteer roles over four decades. He has been an active and dedicated participant in various phases of alumni activity, excelling in multiple areas and setting a high standard for alumni engagement and philanthropy. David is a founding member and former treasurer of the Chinese Alumni Group, and for over 20 years, he has served his class in multiple committee roles, including acting as a class agent.

Kelly Shen '17 was honored with the Margaret L. A. MacVicar ’65, ScD ’67 Award, which recognizes innovation, dedication, and impactful volunteer service. Kelly Shen’s journey with the MIT Club of New York began as a dedicated regional alumna, actively contributing to a multitude of engaging in-person events. Kelly ascended to vice president of community programs on the board, where she orchestrated a series of impactful virtual events with a strong focus on community service. In addition to our community, Kelly has also led communications for AMITA (MIT Women Alum) and is soon to be its vice president.

We congratulate both David and Kelly on these well-deserved honors and thank them for their exceptional service to our community!
